A few of us went along to Prospect Hospice on Wednesday 15th February to present our donation of £500 from Carolling in December. Community Fundraiser Amy met with us and wrote the following article: We were delighted recently to welcome members of Swindon Brass to Prospect Hospice, where they presented our Community Fundraiser Amy Francombe with a cheque for £500. This latest donation brings the total funds raised by the group to £2,160.86 since the year 2000, and has been raised through collections during carol playing over Christmas. The group gave festive performances in local supermarkets. They also performed in the bandstand at Town Gardens on the Sunday before Christmas, and despite the cold temperatures, around five hundred people turned out for their fourth annual open air performance. Julie Hedge from the group said: “I spent a short spell at the hospice as a ward clerk and I was really struck then by how much the nurses do; they really go the extra mile.” “It was great to welcome the band members into the hospice,” said Amy, “and to share with them that the total amount they have raised so far equates to the cost of 66 hours of Prospect @ Home care for a patient. They were quite rightly very pleased with this achievement.” A big THANK YOU to Swindon Brass for their continued support and commitment to their local Hospice.
